Atrophy post steroid injections
Hey all, just curious if anyone else can had the complete opposite of a steroid injection where it completely flattened it… only then kept going to atrophy the area and destroy the natural body fat.
Basic story is I’ve had multiple steroid injections before and they would lighten/soften/flatten, so the doctor used more / higher dose with my last injections about 2 years ago and now I have darker red areas where the keloids were that are like paper thin (I can see the veins pretty clearly). I’ve read up about steroid overuse causing atrophy like this, but vague on how long this last. They range from 1-5 years to permanent. The main solution to treat seems to be injecting the area with saline multiple times over a few months to force the steroid to be flushed for the area - which of course freaks me out as I worry it’s gonna cause a freaking keloid again. Not looking for medical advice, just curious if anyone else has experienced this and what the outcome was.
