Shifting dating dynamics among generations.
Since reddit has become a sensitive space let me start this post with disclaimers.
It's based on my observations, so hakuna statistics to back it up or studies.
I'm not triggered or angry, just curious. Wale wa "You sound triggered/emotional" tafadhali spare me.
This is not a chance for millenials and gen z to fight.
The observations are based on what I've been reading here and on other social media sites so it does not affect everyone because it's a small portion of the population.
There's a girl who has posted this morning looking for a boyfriend, she stated her age and most guys trying to shoot their shots are younger than her. I've noticed on other posts of girls looking for boyfriends and younger guys try to shoot their shots. There's also been an increase in posts of young guys looking for older girls professing their admiration of their maturity and independence. There's also been a discussion about age gaps. You get the gist.
Millenial girls on the other hand have started embracing dating down with more of them choosing to date younger even by 5, 7 years. The other day I saw a long thread of millenial ladies confessing their admiration for younger guys. One even said she'd consider dating a 19 year old, ingekua ndume angeitwa pedo, it would have trended but story for another day. Not a bad thing though. Sasa, gen z ladies seem to prefer dating within their generation. There seems to be a concensus between ladies across the two generations that millenial men have an issue which is interesting to see.
Sasa my question is, what seems to be driving these trends in dating? Is it stereotypes, is it something the change in societal perception in dating? Is it trends in parenting considering most people think younger men going for older have mummy issues? Is it that gen z ladies don't have daddy issues and that's why most of them prefer dating within their age group?
