Purchased my 3rd Keychron in the span of six months, what gives?
I work in a district attorneys office and do a lot of typing. We had a bunch of overtime coming our way and i thought i would see what the fuss is about with mechanical keyboards. I needed a full size for making typing in case numbers easier. So i chose a V6 max. Within a couple months keys stopped responding unless you pressed extremely hard. I tried swapping around switches, bending the prongs, and even spending extra money on Cherry switches thinking since keychron is a budget brand the switches may be cheapish. Ultimately i ended up arguing with amazon to return it beyond the return window. And I got...another V6 max thinking it was a fluke and maybe a little user error changing out the switches. This one i decided not to mess with at all. Sure enough keys stopped responding after a few weeks. I now bought a Q5 Pro. I'm thinking the plastic case was part of the issue because one of my jury-rigged repairs that worked for a bit was sandwiching the keychron manual inside the case so there's less bending/give when you press down and that hopefully translates to more accuracy.
This is my first day with the Q5 Pro and while I'm loving it. I scratch my head and why the other two failed so easily. Is part of being a mechanical keyboard owner the constant fixing and tinkering? I can't have my keyboard apart every day trying to figure out why this or that key doesn't work. I am hoping this is the end of my keyboard saga. Has anyone had similar experiences with keys just slowly stop responding? What am i doing wrong here?
