Commentary while driving

I was wondering if it is normal or okay to do commentary while driving during the driving test? I think it would be helpful if I did that, for example, ''checking centre mirror and left mirror''. One issue I face is my instructor does not notice when I check mirrors, and assumes I did not, which I don't blame them for, I am guessing I am not exaggerating enough, but even when I do exaggerate I feel like it is still not noticeable XD. Any tips for that as well?

Not sure if this affects the test on the examiners end.
