Question on 'Monitored' and library recognition
Hello,
I see the term monitored to be used in the root folders (media management) and on artist/album level. I have the feeling that I do not understand the meaning of it (see issue description at the bottom).
Library Level (Media Directory):
- My settings:
- Monitor: 'All Albums' (Monitor all albums except specials)
- Monitor New Albums: 'All Albums' (Monitor all new albums)
- Lidarr keeps track of the artists and albums in that directory.
- It will search for missing releases, download new ones, and handle updates as per your quality and release preferences.
Artist Level:
- my settings:
- all artists were by default put on 'monitored' (bookmark icon filled on artist page)
- An artist marked as "monitored" means that it's actively managed (albums and tracks). If new albums are released by that artist, Lidarr will identify and attempt to download them automatically.
- If I mark an artist as "unmonitored," Lidarr will stop searching for new releases or missing tracks for that artist.
Album or Track Level:
- At the individual album or track level, you can also choose to monitor or unmonitor specific items, allowing fine-grained control over which content Lidarr should actively manage.
My issue:
I got random downloads in activity. This is not what I want. It seemed to me, that the monitor feature randomly put some albums in the download list. I changed the settings in the library settings (Monitor: no albums, Monitor New Albums: No new Albums) and un-monitored all artists via bulk change.
This led to a empty library. It seems that the monitor function is more than only watch-and-grab, but also affects the scanning and recognition of my available data.
Can someone please guide me how I scan an import all artists and albums from my root folder, but choose by myself which artists I want to keep up-to-date?
Thanks!
