Dude Hitomi is worst girl.

Dude, I just got to the end of episode 7 when Hitomi is telling Sayaka that she loves Kyosuke, and like what the actual fuck? Like already not a giant fan because of the homophobic (yes Im aware it was intended as a dumb joke) comments in the first or second episode but no. I've never had a worst girl but OMG is it her now? Like you didn't even bother to visit him in the hospital and you have clearly heard Sayaka talk about visiting this boy for however long since the accident. Then you give her a day to confess her feelings or you're going to 'swoop in' and steal one of your closest friend's crush. Like, it is so painfully obvious to anyone that is looking that Sayaka is head over heels for this boy with a genuine love for him. WTF? Like the right thing would have been to say literally nothing? Like duh?

I'm sorry. I'm sure that this has been complained about before, but it caught me so off guard that I had to pause the show. Like, I'm genuinely mad on Sayaka's behalf.

Though the fact that this ticked me off this much is just a testiment to the shows writing. Glad that I'm finally getting around to watching it! It's great, I'm like anticipating the worst for Sayaka but I'm still on her side dammit!

edit: after chatting with people I've seen some perspectives I didn't consider which has been really fun! So thanks for talking with me :)

Feelings about why they depicted the scene that way: Actually writing this out, I wonder if they did that though to make us more strongly connnect with the emotions that Sayaka felt when that reveal dropped. Wait.... OMG I think that might be the point. Sorry about that but that was quite literally my thoughts playing out in real time as I typed, maybe the reason that they didn't show any buildup when there may have been some was to add to the shock value that Kyosuke wasn't inherently indebted to love Sayaka. I think she felt like she had some sort of right to his love due a sacrifice he didn't even know about. I think I'm seeing this in a new light now. (Hope no one minds me copying and pasting it as an edit to the original rant.)

Solid point about Kyosuke not even saying hi to Sayaka when he came back to school: You know what? You are absolutely correct. I've been having fun talking about the show in this post and I think I would like to change my opinion on another point I made. He absolutely should have. Like they're all such shitty people. (because they are 14 year old middle schoolers so like I get it) But, I think the show was so excellent in getting you to feel emotions similar to what the current POV character is feeling that it's easy to get swept away in that. Full respect. I will also be adding this updated opinion to the edit. Fuck him too. (I'm just kidding btw they are literally children they are going to be a-holes sometimes, especially at that age.)
