Please Read: No active moderators in this subreddit which puts it at risk of being shutdown. Looking for assistance from others to solve this problem.
Currently there is only one moderator in the subreddit and they have not been active in the community for years. They are probably the creator of this subreddit.
All the information in the subreddits wiki regarding melasma treatment is outdated. It would be very helpful if the community had updated information in the wiki as well as a bot that reply to posts like they have in other communities. I answer the same question multiple times in the community due to the lack of a wiki or informational bot.
Links to older posts that contain a lot of information and input from the community could be added to the wiki for new users. Also, links in the wiki to polls done by users about the experienced effectiveness of certain products would also be a great addition.
Communities without active moderators are at risk of being banned. If members or bots post content that is against Reddit's policies and it's not taken down by moderators it could lead to reddit banning the community. https://redditinc.com/policies/content-policy
Moderators are very important to subreddits as they not only build the community but maintain a positive environment. They also prevent misinformation. Moderators help to remove spam, bots, or trolling content that might otherwise flood the subreddit, protecting the community from disruptive influences. They address questions, concerns, and suggestions from users, helping improve the experience and adapting rules as the community evolves. Many moderators organize events, AMAs (Ask Me Anything), or discussions that add value and engagement to the community.
Personally, I would hate to lose this community just because there is not active moderators and it is a risk of becoming a spam haven.
We have some options. Someone could request to take over the community by posting on r/RedditRequest. I already attempted to do this but I assume I was denied due to lack of moderation experience. Also, I reached out to the current moderator but they never replied.
Our other option is start an entirely new subreddit.
I would love to participate as an active moderator of this subreddit and get assistance from other members her to take over the community to ensure we don't lose it. Please comment if your interested and the ideas you have to get the community in the hands of active members.
