The remaster definetively increased the overworld spawn of monsters.
I played the original 3DS release, and in that only one large monster can spawn at the time in the fixed locations of the various maps, such as the Yian Kut-Ku at the Pondry Hills Crossroads.
Now, I did not realize it until now that I'm in the Trese Desert, but the Remaster definetively increased the spawn of monsters:
for example, near the sand pits of Sandstorm Hill that lead to the Quicksand Caves, it can spawn simultaneously a Shrouded Nerscylla, a Daimyo Hermitaur and a Black Diablos, where originally it was only one of these. Similarly, in the same area, a little more to the east towards Albarax, it can spawn another Shrouded Nerscylla, a Barroth, and a Cephadrome all at the same time. It does not always happen, but it fairly frequent, and I never seen in this game so many large monsters all in one place. Maybe, in hindsight, I should have realized it when at the Pondry Hills Crossroads both a Yian Kut-Ku and a Blue Yian Kut-Ku spawned, or at Darj Snowfields, where i met both a Zamtrios/Red Khezu alongside a Bulldrome in the middle of the frozen lake, or at Monsonne Plains, where I saw multyple Royal Ludroths near the shipwreck, multyple Qurupecos in the middle of the plains, and multyple Rathians in the hinterlands.
Granted, using a Qurupeco's special ability is still probably the best strategy, but still, the increased spawn cap can definetively help when searching specific monsters, even more so because the old ways of despawn unwanted monsters, such as going to the other end of the map, exiting the area completetely, or just using a den, still work.
