Pulsar X3 is honestly just OKAY except for 1 thing! *REVIEW*

Hello my mouse lovers and enthusiasts!

Today's post is somewhat sour and disappointing. This is my full review on the Pulsar X3 (Mini) and without trying to spoil too much I want to say I have VERY mixed feelings about this mouse. As always, I'd like to remind everyone that I purchased this mouse with my own money so everything I say is legitimate. Alright, here we go.

TL;DR - The Pulsar X3 Mini weighs only 50g. Without a doubt my favorite thing about this mouse is the shape. It's a smaller version of the Logitech G703, which is perfect for me. I love that the back half is ergonomic and the front half is ambidextrous. The rest of the mouse is honestly just okay or good. By no means is this a bad mouse. It just seems underwhelming. Main switches are good. Side buttons are good. Sensor is good. Skates are somewhat below average and the scroll wheel just feels cheap. I do like Pulsar'a new mouse software.

FULL REVIEW:

SHAPE - I'm starting with the shape for a very specific reason. It's because it's BY FAR the best thing about the Pulsar X3 (Mini) and it's the only reason why I even think about using it. I love how different and innovative the shape is. The back half has an ergonomic shape feel to it while the front half is shaped like how a normal ambidextrous mouse is. I typically can't play at my very best when using just a straight up ERGO mouse, but with the Pulsar X3 (Mini) I can. Also, because of half of the mouse being ergonomic, my hand never get strained after hours of gaming. I only think about using this mouse over my mains like the Hitscan Hyperlight or the Razer Viper V3 Pro is BECAUSE OF THE SHAPE. That's it.

WEIGHT - The Pulsar X3 Mini weighs in on my scale at 51g with full sized skates on. With dots the weight goes down to nearly 49g. The regular Pulsar X3 weighs in at 55g, in case anyone is wondering.

MAIN SWITCHES - Here begins the long line of what I think makes the mouse a let down and kinda lame. First off the main switches. It's using Kailh Optical switches. They aren't bad by any means, but compared to mice like the Op1 8k Purple Frost, Hitscan Hyperlight, Viper V3 Pro or even the SUPERLIGHT 2 the Pulsar X3 switches just don't feel as good.

SIDE BUTTONS - I'd like to start this segment by saying I actually really do like the side and placement of the side buttons. But the feel of actually using the side buttons IN-GAME is just okay. Again, it's not bad but like I said before compared to my other mice the side buttons on the Pulsar X3 are just alright.

SCROLL WHEEL - This part of the mouse is my only actual complaint. This mouse’s scroll wheel feels so f*cking cheap and that's how it feels only after a week of heavy use. Imagine how much worse it'll feel after months of use. I literally feel like I'm gonna break the scroll wheel when clicking it and believe me I DO NOT push the scroll wheel down that hard. I'm not saying I expect Zowie level of scroll wheel quality, but this mouse’s scroll wheel feels like it was made by a budget Chinese brand. (Side Note: While making this review I pulled out my cheapest mouse, the ATTACK SHARK X11, and even THAT mouses scroll wheel feels better and that mouse costed me $18 on AliExpress.

COATING - I like the coating. It would be kind of hard to mess this part up. It's smooth, but not slippery. Just the way I like it.

SKATES - I don't know what's up with Pulsar stock skates, but man they're not that good. I'm not saying they're as bad as Logitech's stock skates, but you'd think Pulsar would be better at making PTFR skates. I know they make really good glass skates. So what's the deal? Also, whatever or whoever put my skates on my Pulsar X3 Mini did a pretty poor job.

SENSOR - Again, not much else to say here. It's says on Pulsar's website that it's using their new XS-1 flagship sensor, but I'm almost 99% sure it's just a slightly different version of the normal PixArt 3950 sensor. Feels good either way.

POLLING RATE - Straight out of the box the mouse goes up to 1k polling rate. If you want anything higher, you'll have to purchase Pulsar's 8k dongle which is $20. I feel like I'm not the only one that thinks this tactic is stupid. At the very least, have the mouses highest polling rate out of the box be 2k polling rate. I think that's fair in my opinion. I like using my mice at 2k polling rate.

BATTERY LIFE - Using the mouse for about 3 hours a day for a week I haven't needed to charge it yet. The mouse was at about 85% out of the box. Of course, I was only using it at 1k polling rate. Still a pretty good charge. I'll be honest after the 5th day, I was getting really bored of using this mouse.

SOFTWARE - I like Pulsar's new mouse software a lot. You can download it from their website. It's easy-to-use and has all the necessary settings that you can change.

IN THE BOX - You get a Type-C to USB cord, the mouse (obviously), a 1k receiver, extra pair of skates, a manual, and few other miscellaneous things.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS:

Like I said in the beginning, the Pulsar X3 (Mini) isn't bad. I'd say it's even good besides the scroll wheel which is actually bad. But for some reason I expected more from Pulsar. By far the best part is the shape. I love the shape so much and for that reason alone I'll keep this mouse in my main rotation. I might eventually sell it, but for now I'll use it until even the shape gets boring. Sorry if this review didn't seem as fun as my other reviews, but this is pretty much how I felt when using this mouse. When the Pulsar X3 got announced I was unbelievably excited. I waited and ordered my copy day one and once I got the mouse I was like a little kid on Christmas. But after a few days I started to very quickly realize this mouse wasn't all that.

If you have any other questions about the Pulsar X3 (Mini), please let me know in the comments.

Thank you very much for reading and have a great rest of your day.
