Why are people so racist towards Joel Embiid?

You always hear people talk shit about him being trash or not deserving of MVP, or he can't win or stay healthy or whatever but honestly, he doesn't even seem like a bad guy. He's an immigrant who had to overcome a bunch of adversity just to get over here, then his brother gets killed and he continues playing despite it and struggles with injuries yet still plays. The hate he gets for being African just feels wrong.
