I am an American wanting to emigrate to the Netherlands. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, or personal experiences that would help me accomplish this?

Pretty much what the title says. I have been reading up lately on how to accomplish this, but I'm still rather confused.

I plan to have saved up at least $10,000 usd before even attempting this. I know that I would need a passport, but as I've never left the United States before, I have no idea how visas work.

Right now, I only speak English. I am taking courses to learn Dutch though, using Duolingo.

I realize this is a lofty goal, but this is something I'm very serious about and any help would be appreciated, even if it's just pointing me to other resources.
