The Guilty Gear Strive Switch port is fantastic

I need to gush about this port for a second as I haven't seen too many people talking about it, and I think it deserves some discussion. I haven't even seen it being discussed in many online publications, and it probably doesn't help that there aren't many reviews out there for the game. I have to guess they didn't give review copies out ik advance of release or something.

I'm having an absolute blast playing it on Switch, and I would even go so far as to say it might be one of the best ports I've played on the system. Besides some washed out backgrounds which were really only noticable in dock when compared to my PS5, I haven't noticed a single performance issue. It runs at 60 FPS, has quick load times, and it looks really good, too. It also includes the first 3 season passes on the cart, which is great as I like collecting physical switch games (at least for games I genuinely enjoy), so it has a meaty roster of 28 characters on the cart. You also get a free download character apparently from season 4. I haven't updated my game yet though so I don't currently have this character, but it's a nice addition.

I haven't tried online yet, but I have heard it comes with rollback. Granted, I've also heard it doesn't support crossplay, unlike the other systems, which is a shame and could likely see the game's online community flounder fairly quickly. So it probably isn't the best way to play if you want to be involved in the competitive scene, unless the Switch community does develop. However, to just have a fighter like this that I can unwind with on Switch feels amazing. I'll probably stick to PS5 for when I want to play competitive unless the Switch scene develops, but playing Strive this way feels like a great way to both chill and practice.
