finally broke up with total wireless/total by verizon

Hi all! Just want to say thanks again to those who chimed in and gave advice/input about which provider I should move to. With that, I would like to share a little about my experience in hopes it will enlighten others on this journey.

I ended up switching to Visible+ and the experience was a nightmare - not because Visible support hasn’t been awesome, but because FedEx refused to deliver my package with the SIM card. I would like to advise EXTREME CAUTION to anyone who has shitty FedEx in their area before ordering a Visible or Visible+ plan if you want a physical SIM card. I live part-time in Philadelphia, which is a pretty densely populated metropolitan area, and I would not be surprised if other metro areas will have the same experience. FedEx is Visible’s shipping partner, which means they will only ship with FedEx. For whatever reason, as I’ve read in other reviews, FedEx is NOTORIOUS in Philly for marking packages as “attempted deliveries” without actually making the attempt to deliver. This was my hell for 4 days. The only time a FedEx driver actually attempted to deliver my package was the first day (1/23 - they only left a slip on my door and did not knock), but every day after that, they didn’t so much as drive by. They kept marking my package as an attempted delivery and straight up refusing to make the stop. And eventually the package got marked as “return to sender.” I tried calling 1-800-GO-FEDEX, and they absolutely did not care about what was happening. They absolutely will not provide any support, nor will they allow you to speak with a manager.

All that said, Visible customer service was very supportive and they did everything they could. They tried to contact FedEx multiple times to resolve the issue. They tried to authorize me to pick up my package at a nearby FedEx store or facility. FedEx would not follow Visible’s delivery instructions after the update. It’s been a whole mess. Finally, last night, one Visible agent talked me into trying eSIM to port my number to Visible, so I could avoid getting billed by Total Wireless today. I really did not want to use eSIM, but it was either that, or pay another month with Total. I spent 3 hours working with two different agents. It was a long process, but the agents were great and very supportive through the whole thing. Ultimately, my phone was ported and my Visible+ service is up and running. I’m still going to try again to get a SIM card delivered to my other home when I return to Oregon in February.
