May 14th Election - 2nd Primary

Mark your calendars to vote in the second primary runoff May 14th.

Statewide runoff races

  • Republican nomination for lieutenant governor:
    • Hal Weatherman
    • Jim O’Neill
  • Republican nomination for state auditor:
    • Jack Clark
    • Dave Boliek
  • Republican nomination for U.S. House District 13:
    • Kelly Daughtry
    • Brad Knott

NC voters who are registered Republican, or registered Unaffiliated may vote in this runoff. Voters registered as Democrats may not vote in these races. Please don't forget your photo ID.

Additional races:

  • A third seat on the Orange County Schools Board of Education:
    • Jennifer Moore
    • Bonnie Hauser
    • I think this is a non partisan runoff, so your party affiliation doesn't matter. But please check the Orange County Board of Election site to make sure.

  • Republican nomination for the South Point Township District on the Gaston County Board of Commissioners:
    • Jim Bailey
    • Ronnie Worley

Important Dates

  • March 30, 2024: County boards of elections begin mailing absentee ballots to eligible voters who submitted an absentee ballot request form.
  • April 25, 2024: In-person early voting begins.
  • May 7, 2024: Absentee ballot request deadline (5 p.m.). (deadlines are different for military and overseas voters, so please check your county's Board of Election website)
  • May 11, 2024: In-person early voting ends (3 p.m.).
  • May 14, 2024: Election Day.
  • May 14, 2024: Absentee ballot return deadline (7:30 p.m.). (deadlines are different for military and overseas voters, so please check your county's Board of Election website)
