Spread the word: Support Special Election in NY and FL could give Dems the House majority in congress if won

I originally learn of this from a live video that AOC posted on her Instagram, she didn’t give a ton of info about the elections so I just used ChatGPT for more details. I dont live in NY or FL so I can’t participate but I thought it would be helpful to let people know about them so that those who do live in those areas can campaign and help to elect Democrats in the seats.

Here is some basic info as I don’t have a lot of time to do thorough research on how to support the candidates being I work full time and am also a full time student. I’m sure you find more if you live in those areas and I’ll provide what I can and I’m sure others can provide more as well over time on how those can get involved or google can help as well.

  1. 1st Congressional District (Matt Gaetz's former seat):

    • Republicans: Jimmy Patronis, endorsed by Donald Trump, won the GOP primary. He is a longtime Florida politician and former Chief Financial Officer[1][3].
    • Democrats: Gay Valimont, a gun control activist who previously ran against Gaetz, is unopposed for the Democratic nomination[1][2].
  2. 6th Congressional District (Mike Waltz's former seat):

    • Republicans: Randy Fine, a state senator endorsed by Trump, secured the GOP primary victory. Fine is known for his conservative stance on LGBTQ+ issues and education policy[3][4].
    • Democrats: George Selmont (attorney and filmmaker) and Josh Weil (public school educator) are competing for the Democratic nomination[1][2].

New York Special Election

  • The special election for Rep. Elise Stefanik's NY-21 seat has not been scheduled yet. Stefanik is expected to resign upon confirmation as U.N. Ambassador, triggering a process to fill her seat within 80 days unless state Democrats delay it[5][6].

This can provides us some hope we can slow this regime down ( I am not calling them an administration because a democratic administration doesn’t do this and I’m not normalizing it) there is hope to be had out of this considering recently a seat in Iowa that is in a republican dominated area that this regime won just a few months ago was flipped to a Democrat. So I know at least 1 of the NY seats is in a republican dominated area and Florida probably is too there is still hope for us.

If we can slow them down this can help us make it far enough to come up with a better plan at fight off this attack on the American people and our democracy or make it to midterms. This is something positive we can all focus on to help us get through. United We Stand Divided We Fall!
