Knee pain

I am a 22F and recently started working out, 67 kgs and 158 cm. 8 days into my workouts, I started adding incline to my running routine and started feeling pain on the right side of my left knee. I went to the doctor and he said it’s nothing, I just overworked it. Since then I have decreased my running speed and time, and avoided exercises that require strength from my knees or legs but the pain is still there, if not even worse. I feel it the most when I am trying to stand up, walk and climb down stairs/a hill. It’s been 2 weeks since I saw the doctor and 4 since I started working out, what should I do? The doctor prescribed a painkiller pill and gel but can’t really say they’re helping.
