Misdiagnosis for my mom? Let me know what yall think

Hi everyone! I am posting today to see what you guys think about my mom’s diagnosis. She was diagnosed with bipolar 2 for like most of her adult life and the meds she was on never fully helped her. She hit menopause recently and realized her symptoms went away and she stopped taking any medication at all. She doesn’t think so, but do you guys think there’s a chance she had pmdd and was misdiagnosed with bipolar 2? It would make sense and I know bipolar is a common misdiagnosis for women with pmdd. I just thought it was interesting. If she grew up thinking she had bipolar what did her mom think? And did my ancestors struggle with pmdd too? How did they handle it? Anyways just curious for others opinions and also wanted to speak into the void. Have a good one yall!
