Best Investing Plan for Canadian/US Dual Citizen in Canada
hello!
I am a dual citizen of Canada/US, working and living in Canada, with all my assets in CAD. I want to start investing, and have prepared after lots of research by 1. filing both my US and Canadian taxes 2. Only having my work-sponsored RRSP, not opening a TFSA. 3. Opening a Questtrade non-registered cash account 4. Planning to only buy US-listed ETFs
I have read about Norbert's Gambit, but I am curious if it is a viable answer for dual citizens, as I don't want to trigger any PFIC paperwork. I also am curious what would be the preferred platform, Questtrade like I've opened already, Wealthsimple, RBC/BMO (which I have as my banking accounts), or Interactive Brokers (which I hadn't heard of until recently.) Does anyone have first hand advice as a dual citizen investor?
