Pokemon Scalpers are ruining a hobby for those that just want to play.
So me and my husband started to collect pokemon cards in the last month because we are interested in playing the game, and playing with other people.
It all started when we played TCG pocket and he asked if we should start collecting the physical cards, which I am all for because we both collected cards as kids (still have our childhood cards) and decided lets go for it. So we collected a few things from the stores at MSRP and have been pretty lucky with what we have gotten. I was able to get all charizard ex's, even gold.
However
Maybe we started at a bad time. I have never seen the community so ravaged by people just trying to make more money. You cant even order anything online without it being sold out in less than a few minutes. My husband tried to pre order the Journey Together and no luck. We are not about to pay scalper prices for colorful cardboard. (We havent even seen a prismatic or 151 in the wild at MSRP)
With Blooming waters releasing this Friday, I am torn. we just want at least one box for us. Im convinced to just play with what we have, although 151 would help us build. It seems this is a case of FOMO and once one person knows about pokemon scalping, it becomes a trend.
