D8 Visa (DNV) and paying social security as an American W-2 Employee

Is anyone here CURRENTLY LIVING in Portugal on the D8 visa as a W-2 employee for an American company? There is so much conflicting info out there and I want to know…

• Are you paying SS in both the US and Portugal?
• Are you only paying SS in the US and NOT in Portugal?
• If you are not paying SS in Portugal, how are you able to do this? Do you have a certificate of coverage that exempts you from paying SS in Portugal?

As I understand, it’s extremely difficult to get a certificate of coverage from the social security administration.. but what are you supposed to do about social security when you’re in living in Portugal?

I’d rather hear from ppl who are CURRENTLY going through this rather than more hypothetical info.. First-hand experience only plz! Thank uuuu
