The Republic Day parade in New Delhi takes place on land belonging to MAHARAJ OF JAIPUR

In the 1920s, villages such as Madhoganj, Jaisinghpura, Raja Ka Bazar, Malcha, and Raisina were cleared to make way for Connaught Place, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and the entire Lutyens' zone. The displaced villagers were relocated to other areas. Raja Ka Bazar, for instance, covered what are now the areas between Baba Kharak Singh Marg, parts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, and sections of the southwestern side of Connaught Place.

However, certain landmarks, such as the Hanuman Temple, a Jain temple in Jaisinghpura, and the historic Jantar Mantar, were preserved and incorporated into the plans for New Delhi due to their historical significance.
