New player, is royalty worth it?

So I recently just got my first batch of poor bastards off to the stars in baby’s-first-playthrough peaceful settings since I’m not used to the warfare side of things having only ever played games like Clanfolk before, and I’m starting off a new save file with five tribespeople in most basic normal settings. I have genetics and ideology already although this is my first playthrough with ideology installed. Is the royalty pack worth it, and do you have any tips for a new player? Like I said I’m familiar with the resource management/ base building aspect but I could use tips for the defence/strategy side of things.

Which narrator is the most popular and what sort of gameplay do y’all default to? My current save file are likely to engage in a healthy amount of slavery and human sacrifice given they’re supremacist animists. Lots of Celtic-inspired head hunting!
