Strange encounter at a casino

I was playing slots at a casino this weekend when an old guy walked up to me and started showing me pictures of him in front of machines with huge wins.

He asked me to follow him to the lucky machine so I can win too. Obviously I did not take him up on this offer. This was a very strange interaction.

I’m sure he was trying to scam me somehow… but what would he get out of it? Is this common?
