Learning Scottish!
Not from the UK, but learning for fun! Preserving a declining language and culture I love, even though I have no Scottish ancestry (not even European).
Does anyone still speak Gaelic in Scotland? If I speak it in the city centre of Edinburgh or Glasgow, how likely can people understand the language, even if they have to respond in English?
Perhaps more importantly, with some knowledge of Gaelic, do you think it helps with understanding the crazy Scottish English accent?
Slàinte Mhath!
Edit: Referring to Gaelic, not Scots. Fixed the ambiguity.
