auto gratuity “rant”

hello! this is me just venting and wanting to hear other people’s stories. my restaurant does not do auto-grat. in fact, the manager has openly expressed many times how he’s against it and how people will tip based on service provided.

this past week i had a party of 13 that stayed for around 3 hours. they took up my entire shift and section for this time. their bill was nearing a $1000 and they left me a $20 tip (2%) 😅 with tip out i lost money and i’m just so fed up with this because it seems every other restaurant does auto-grat and still i am the one in the wrong to my managers for wanting it. this is not the first time ive had a big party not tip appropriately, i dare to say it’s even the norm at my restaurant.

more experienced servers, help!! has this happened to anyone else in such severity?
