Any tips for learning audio cues?

ive been struggling on improving on defence i find myself rushing at the wrong times and not knowing cues and i cant really tell where anyone is, sometimes in fights i engage at bad times but i dont know when the good time to engage if it helps im a smoke main, and im also on ps4. thanks
