Early game alchemy training help

Currently playing a Dunmer destruction mage/spellsword build and would like to incorporate some alchemy into it. How do you level up alchemy in the early game and what are some general tips and advice to get the ball rolling? Never touched alchemy prior to playing a mage oriented build.
