BOA Rams Settlement - Please Invest in Downtown

The BOA went crazy today, apparently.

Anne Schweitzer is saying that her and other alders want to only use the settlement fund to address aging water infrastructure. This coalition wants the rest of the settlement money to stay in the endowment fund to gain interest.

Other members of the board want the compromise bill to go through, and some are being nebulous.

At this point, I agree with Anne that we should wait until the next federal administration so that we can actually get grants, but I also think it’s crucial to take the private sector up on its current offer to match funds for downtown projects.

Pull the trigger on water infrastructure and the downtown investment, but wait on everything else.
