Energy Drink Ban?

I was recently subbing in an 8th grade class and they told me that energy drinks were not allowed. Although I get the reasoning, I was kind of shocked as many parents are sending their 12 year olds to school with 200mg of caffiene.. but like also technically is that their right? Is anyone else seeing energy drink bans in schools?
