Unpopular Opinion. I don't believe that Sokka is the Father

Hey everyone, I'm sure you guys have heard the popular fan theory that Sokka is the father of Suyin Beifong because of her darker skin tone and similarish personality to his. I thought I would provide my evidence as to why Sokka isn't the Father. This is just for the sake of fun discussion so don't stress too much if you are hard core believer of the theory.

Anyway, there are a few reasons I don't believe Sokka isn't the father. The first is that Sokka was the head councilman of Republic City and thus worked with Toph when she was the chief of Police. Sokka was literally down the road from Toph's workplace. There is no way that his child grew up without a dad when Sokka was right there. I also doubt that Sokka would willingly abandon his kid.

Just to remind you in episode 15 of Season One (Bato of the Water Tribe), Sokka was about to abandon the Avatar on his quest to master the four elements and defeat the tyrannical Fire Lord because he missed his dad. He may not have cussed out Hakoda for vanishing as Katara did in season 3, episode 1, but it's clear that he missed both his parents and was more than happy to return to his dad when the opportunity presented itself. I think because of that, he'd be unlikely to be an absent parent to his own child because he knows what it's like to have an absent parent. This of course isn't to accuse Hakoda of being an absent parent, he was busy fighting in the war but he was gone for most of Sokka's childhood after the death of Kya. I also genuinely don't think Katara would allow Sokka to abandon his kid.

Next piece of evidence. Toph sends Suyin to live with her grandparents after she joins a gang and is caught stealing... instead of her cousin, the Air Nomad trainee, and his dad, the Avatar and Air Nomad, who isn't supposed to have world possessions and his wife, the strict Water Tribe Warrior who is a stickler for the rules. I dunno about you but I feel like sending a rebellious daughter to live with rich grandparents in luxury is not the way to teach her responsibility unless that was the only option available. Also, there was never a familial relationship acknowledgement from Tenzin, Kya or Bumi to Suyin.

There is the counter-argument that Toph never told Sokka that Suyin was his daughter but I don't think that holds. Toph doesn't strike me as the promiscuous sort and just like 1+1=2 man+woman = child, and Sokka is smart enough to realise that Toph had a baby nine months after a potential relationship between the two.

So yeah, I don't think Sokka is the father. And until the writers say otherwise, this shall be my interpretation of the cannon. Of course, this is only my thoughts on the topic. What do ya'll think?
