It was such a surprising twist when we found out in the Season 3 finale that Damon and Elena actually met the night she and her parents crashed into the Wickery Bridge. But honestly, Isn't it obvious their first encounter would’ve been totally different if Elena hadn’t looked like Katherine? She could’ve ended up with the same tragic fate as her parents. I mean, Damon literally found her in the middle of the road just looking for his next victim lol.
