What’s a situation where the chef was just unlucky? Brandon Rosen in the Kentucky Season accidentally overspilled the grapeseed oil (top didn’t fit) in his tartare sauce. He tried to use xanthan gum to salvage it but the texture was too off. He definitely could have been in the Finale.
Too bad it wasn’t a lucky accident like John Tesar using xanthan gum in his mac and cheese in Season 14, where he won the challenge.
