Looking for those having had a revision
I had my L THR 5 years ago. It did not go great, I did not get full range of motion back and limited strength. The surgeon kept telling me everything looked good and basically just live with it. Fast forward to this year. I saw a new surgeon for my right hip which now needs to be replaced and learned that the original left hip replacement was botched and needs to be fully replaced/revised as well.
I have now had my right hip replaced 5 weeks ago and everything is great, I’ve had an easy uneventful recovery, never needed any pain meds other than Tylenol, driving in 3 days, off the cane within the week and am back to walking 30 minutes/day and riding recumbent bike with no pain.
I have the revision of my left hip scheduled in 2 weeks. They have to remove all old hardware and replace it with new. I am trying to get a grasp on what to expect for recovery - pain wise and time wise. Anyone have experience with revision surgery 5-6 years after original surgery?
