Surgery today - cold therapy questions

55m from PA. Left anterior. I bought a cold therapy machine primarily for my knee, but want to use it for my hip. Anyone have any experience ? How long and often can I use it? It really helps. Everyone I talked to said ice was the key to pain management with the least amount of meds. Love to hear some with a history on how it worked for them. Thanks
