Well it happened
Driving home yesterday the truck started to make a weird vibration. I thought I had a low tire. I checked tire pressure but was good. Then I lost power, looked at gauges and saw that I had no oil pressure and pulled over at which time the engine knocking and vibrations were unmistakable. Took the truck to the Toyota dealership and was told that it needed a new block and heads at a minimum and they would assess the internals once they’ve got it torn down. They said it would be replaced under powertrain warranty. 2023 Tundra Limited iForce with 58,000 miles. The worst part is they said with the parts shortages it could take two months to get it back.
UPDATE - parts (block, heads, gasket kit) came in at the end of last week. Engine is being rebuilt as of 11/4/24.
UPDATE 2 - Finally got my Truck back. Took two months. Toyota replaced the small block with the new design. Also installed new heads, valves, turbo, oilcooler, camshaft, gear assembly, timing chain, oil pan, oil pump, and a/c compressor. Basically a new engine. Drove it home 375 miles. Everything was fine. Hopefully it stays that way.
