Modern day mass migration is remarkably similar to colonization
No one woke up in their workhouse bed in Scotland in 1830, with the mindset of "you know I've never even laid eyes on an indigenous American, never seen one, heard from one, but man I just need to grab my three possessions get on a boat for 2 months and kick their ass"
Colonization and expansionism from Europe, was largely fueled by the same problems that are causing mass migration into the west. The people sho showed up in North America did so for remarkably similar reasons (economic security, political persecution, etc) as the current migrants.
In addition, the problems they caused are largely the same and for the same reasons. There have been, in the modern day, massacres of the indigenous population of Europe (Paris shootings, bombings, countless machete attacks) and largely for the exact same reason, "they don't follow our religion and so they are evil and we can do whatever we want"
It is entirely hypocritical to deem modern day attacks and massacres as "part and parcel" of what it takes to accept immigration, while seeing it as a moral outrage when it happened in the past.
