The plane crash wasn't caused by DEI or cuts
Normally, I don't like to weigh in on current events before we have all the facts, but fuck it, our president can do it, so why can't I? I doubt I have enough information to come to a reliable conclusion. My main point is that no one else does either.
DEI: I don't know much about the pilots or air traffic controllers involved. At least the airplane pilot was a white male. But if we're going to determine if DEI was at fault, shouldn't we evaluate what happened in the crash and determine who made an error first, before we consider the race and gender of the people involved? Don't first pick out the minority and then figure out how it was their fault.
Budget / staffing cuts: It's true that air traffic control was understaffed at the time of the crash. That might have contributed. But was that a result of Trump's actions? Probably not. He hadn't fired anybody yet. He had frozen hiring, but that would only have made a difference if there was a new recruit lined up to start who missed their first day. I haven't heard anything about such a scenario.
Operating with one air traffic controller was not preferred, but was allowed by regulations that existed before Trump took office. Accidents are more likely to happen when conditions are not ideal, but that doesn't mean it's the fault of the conditions.
