Mesalamine Question

I've been on 3 g oral Salofalk since Dec 19, just hit the 6 week mark. Things were not great but not awful a few days ago but now, all of a sudden my bowel movements are almost normal no visible bleeding, minimal mucous. Is that how Mesalamine works? Takes the symptoms down, flex in symptoms then eventually bam works real good? I do 4g enemas too since mid October.
