Taper after Vo2

Going to do my first real vo2 block after next week for 3 weeks and wonder how much time between those and my first race?

I'm kinda unfamiliar with doing full-out 3-4-5min Vo2 (did the chicken 110/115% FTP ones last year) and recovery after. Do I need a week of recovery like normal or can I see that week as 'taper'? Or do both?

Start -> week 1 vo2 -> week 2 vo2 -> week3 vo2 - recovery week - week 1 race season, 2x20 FTP on tuesday and race on sat/sun?

or something like:

Start -> week 1 vo2 -> week 2 vo2 -> week3 vo2 - recovery week - taper week (some efforts of all kind) -> week 1 race season?
