Has anyone been told they qualify for SSDI multiple times by the VA?

I've been dealing with the VA for some time now. Rated P&T few years ago to include a TBI. So my TBI dept. mentioned I qualify for SSDI and that it would be best to get a lawyer (under 40 I'm guessing age matters), I said thank you but I prefer to stay in the fight while I can. Then the VRU or VR&E mentioned SSDI also, stating I could go that route too. I said, two different depts now said that. Am I saying or doing something that flags you or am I worse than I'm thinking? I have been hospitalized in the past for a day or two, while I'm sure that may play a fact...I doubt they would say SSDI. I have lost or walked out of every job I've had. It's never my intention, I even told them I feel like a pos because I can't keep a career and would have been homeless in 2015 if I didn't have an emergency fund (I was afraid I would end up with nowhere to go one day, who knew). Just curious if the VA has ever recommended it to anyone else that was still in their 30s. I know I have enough credits and stuff I've never been not employed pretty much job contracts overlapped.
