High pitch sound when plug earphones into controller (SeriesX)

I recently purchased an Xbox. When I plug my earphones into the controller there’s a high pitch sound (and the game sound in the background). I googled it and did what was recommended (reset the Xbox and updated the firmware) but nothing has changed. Can anyone help?
