Have I been biking wrong all these years?

I am incapable of keeping up with Zwift’s expected cadence.

I’ve been Zwifting for a few years but have only now started using workouts. To start, I thought I’d start with sprints. I chose this:

The sprints require a cadence of about 80 at 445W. If you can’t keep up, you end up in a spiral of death and the required recovery effort is too much for me. I feel I could do it at an FTP of 60.

I have no IRL racing experience or coaching.

My FTP is 296. In past years I’ve been in the top 10% of C races or top 50% of B races. I sometimes win sprints.

Most of my IRL biking is long tours, so things like 1000 miles in 10 days or 5000m climb in a day with camping gear. On Strava Im in the bottom 3% on Galibier, Tourmalet, Stelvio and Gotthard. I’m a bit fat and past middle aged.and very slow.

Have I been pedalling too slow all these years?
