Rant: the Algerian's habit of smoking in crowded places
I've been taking public transport a lot recently and I've noticed that a lot of Algerians, especially young men, have this terrible habit of smoking in the midst of crowded places, not caring about people around them inhaling the nicotine fumes.
I absolutely hate that, not only because scientific studies have shown that someone inhaling another person's cigarette smoke is put in a similar risk of cancer to the person smoking. But I think it's just rude and uncivilized to just walk around with a cigarette in your mouth and exhaling fumes, knowing full well that you will project this to people walking behind you. And this just ruins the vibes of some public spaces with the smell
And the reason why I am ranting in the first place is because this is basically an omnipresent phenomenon in my daily life, whether exiting a crowded train or walking in the packed streets of Algiers, to the point that it has become accepted when it shouldn't be the case. People like this should be put back into their places and told to just smoke in an isolated place instead of bringing those cancer fumes to us all. And it stinks.
If you're a smoker and you're reading this, please be mindful of how you ruin your lungs. Most people cannot stand that putrid smell you're projecting in public.
