Armenians of Hungary

I was very excited to see Budapest’s Armenian Catholic Church earlier this week. It’s up a very quiet side street near the big Gellert spa building, tucked away discreetly. Unfortunately, no one was there so I couldn’t go in. My Armenian ancestors belonged to the Armenian Catholic Church and so it’s always fascinating for me to see these churches as they are obviously harder to find than Armenian apostolic churches. The open air bell tower is quite intriguing. I also saw an Armenian Cultural Centre. Didn’t seem to be in use and in fact google says it’s ‘permanently closed’. Would be interesting to hear from Hungary-based diasporans on what life is like for Armenians there.
