Advice for Medical Chart

I was making an appointment over the phone with the nurse of my son’s health care provider. She asked me if we have a religious affiliation, and I said no. Long pause on the other end. I offer no further explanation, and she moved on.

I was raised Catholic. Should I have said that instead? Religiosity is common here, so depending on social context I’ve also claimed to be Unitarian…since they welcome non-belief, and it’s sometimes easier than explaining that I’m atheist but with better things to do than kick puppies daily.

I’m nervous about seeing this lady when I go there.
