Anyone else completely unable to wear normal shoes now? :(
When I bought my first pair of barefoot shoes, I wasn't thinking about health benefits or foot strength or any of that. I simply wanted something that would fit on my pizza-shaped feet. My entire life, no 'wide' shoe has ever been wide enough and I was so tired of the blisters and crushed bones. A trainer friend of mine suggested Whitins on Amazon, so I picked up my first pair nearly two years ago. Eureka, a shoe that actually fit!! I was going through some life events and didn't care too much about dressing up, so two pairs of Whitins got me by for months and months.
Fast forward to the present and I feel like looking cute again, so I busted out my shoe collection from the pre-Whiten days. I absolutely can't wear any of them. I thought I could put up with a snug shoe for an outing every now and again, but it's like my feet have gotten even wider somehow. Also, the stiff soles really fatigue my feet after a few blocks. I'm sad because I had hundreds of dollars in shoes that I can't afford to replace at the moment. My winter boots, my hiking boots, my heels, my running shoes, my sandals... all will need replacing. On the one hand, I'm delighted that I finally know how to shop for shoes that will probably fit my pizza feet... but dang it, this has been an expensive learning curve!
