Anti-Aging and Skincare – Need Your Advice
Hey everyone,
I've recently started getting into anti-aging and skincare. I'm a guy in my late 20s and want to keep my skin looking healthy and fresh for as long as possible. I don’t have acne or scars, but since I didn't grow up in the beauty world, I’d love to hear your advice!
I’m from Germany, so some of the products I use might have different names in other countries. Here’s my current routine:
Morning:
- CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Cream SPF 30 (52 ml). This was recommended to me at the pharmacy. I was told to apply it sparingly, but it felt like too little.
- La Roche-Posay Sunscreen SPF 50. I use this daily, even in winter. However, I still have a tube that expired in 2022. Is it still safe to use, or should I throw it away?
Evening:
- CeraVe Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum (30 ml). Also from the pharmacy. Again, I was told to use it sparingly, but I’m not sure if that’s enough.
- DermaSense Medicated Skincare Tonic (refreshing facial toner). I’m unsure how often and in what way I should use it. Any tips?
Other products I use occasionally:
- Bepanthen for small wounds.
- Davidoff Cool Water Aftershave. A cosmetician once advised me against using it, so I’m unsure whether to continue.
- Nivea creams. I’ve heard you should use them sparingly because they’re quite heavy, especially for men’s skin. Is that true?
- Weleda skincare oil. Unfortunately, it has a strong sesame scent, so I’ll probably stop using it.
I shave almost daily and rinse my face with warm water beforehand to make the shave more comfortable.
Now, my questions:
- Is there anything missing from my routine? What else should I consider in the morning and evening?
- What brands or products would you recommend for men?
- Are there any good books on the topic? (I’m not on social media, so please no Instagram recommendations.)
I’m looking forward to your tips and really appreciate any advice!
Thanks!
