What was the temperament of your autistic children as babies?

My son has a genetic condition called xlinked ichthyosis. The mutation causes a lack of this enzyme that helps skin slaw off . So as a result he has flakey skin . The genes next to the ones that cause it are important for cognitive / developmental health. His deletion is small and supposed to be limited to his skin . Half the people in my family that have this condition also had / have autism . Of the three uncles and two cousins that have this mutation , two cousins and one uncle were autistic so it's very pervasive in my family . I know I should live in the moment but I feel sometimes I wonder if I can see signs early , I can get a start on intervention. So far he is 5 months old . He's very social . Very smiley and cuddly . He's also extremely clingy and hates being set down . He's a great eater , super aware of his surroundings. He's happy as can be as long as he's being held .
