OCI interviews

So my office (Chicago) is conducting OCIs today. Just had the weirdest encounter with a 2L student I think I’ve ever had. She looked excellent on paper and was super personable. When we asked “What are you hoping to gain from our firm?” Instead of giving the typical “experience or networking” answer she stated that she wants “real” experience and does NOT want to merely be a social media pig being milked for the firms social media clout. I get her point but isn’t the whole summer program to some extent a marketing ploy?

Also, she’s likely getting an offer! We’ve just never heard a response like this before😂
