Gifted an old PC…need upgrade advice

So my baby brother gave me his old PC. I’m fairly new to the PC building community, so I’m open to suggestions. Financing is a little tight so it’s going to be a slow process upgrading. I plan to fully convert to PC Gaming by summer of 2025, playing games such as MH Wilds, COD, Marvel Rivals, NFS Heat, etc…Here is the current build of the PC:

CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F A

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050-Ti

SSD: PNY CS900 960GB

RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 3600 C16 2x8GB

MBD: MSI MAG B660M MORTAR WIFI DDR4 (MS-7D42)

Off rip I plan to upgrade the GPU, I’m currently looking at the RX 7600. Afterwards I wanted to upgrade the CPU to an AMD Ryzen chip, but I know doing so I will have to upgrade the motherboard as well…or should I just stick with Intel? Seems like there’s so many options, what would be the best way to go without putting myself in a financial hole?
